Softball Grabs Top 4 at International Starcraft 2 Competition

October 11, 2011 – Taipei, Taiwan – The International Esports Federation (IeSF) World Championship of 2011 took place in Andong, South Korea between October 6th through 9th as international gamers from member countries gathered to take part in a World Cup of eSports.

One of the attendees was Tt Apollos Softball, who was the Starcraft II representative of the country of Taiwan after winning the Taiwan regional qualifier. In his group stages he was drawn into a group with China and Greece. After 2 exciting matches Softball was able to vanquish his opponents and win his group 2-0 which put him in a favorable seeding for the best of 3 bracket play.

In his Round of 32 match, Softball played Israel’s Osho who he was able to defeat 2-0. Immediately following that game, he was pitted against South Africa’s PandaTank which gave Softball a scare by evening up the series 1-1. After some quick decisions Softball was able to take that game and the series 2-1. Softball’s round of 4 game was one of significant importance as it was against the world famous RTS star Grubby. Although Softball put up good games, he was ultimately defeated 2-0 and would have to face Romania’s DeathAngel for the 3rd and 4th place deciding games.

This match proved to be the best of the day, as the games went back and forth and after a 2-2 tie, the 5th and final game would decide the winner. DeathAngel used a very aggressive style not typically seen in a Terran vs. Zerg and he was able to force a “good game” from Softball and take 3rd place.

While Softball takes an exciting 4th place in one of his first international tournaments, he is excited to continue practicing at the Tt eSPORTS and Tt Apollos professional practice facilities and improve his standings in the international scene.

Tt eSPORTS is happy to congratulate all the players of the IeSF 2011 World Championship and hope that more international events are the key to uniting countries around the world together with the culture that is eSports.
